To qualify for this really amazing simulation, you must commit to attending the Junior Achievement classes over the next month and doing the work involved to prepare. You need to be ready to run your “business” while you are there! We will meet on the Pleasant Grove campus and also online – see the schedule below. It is only a month away, so we will have daily lessons online for you to complete so that you feel ready to run the town – lessons about money, work, and career readiness…and also be prepared to vote in the election. It will take dedication and some consistent daily preparation, but it will also be loads of fun!
Parents, Junior Achievement is an engaging program that encourages confidence in young people and motivates them to achieve their future goals. JA programs help 5th & 6th-grade students understand work readiness, entrepreneurship, and personal financial literacy. This program introduces students to the principal characteristics of a market economy and the roles that consumers and producers play in the free enterprise system. Throughout the process that prepares students to become citizens of JA Biztown, students are prompted and encouraged to be curious, consider problems, seek creative solutions, and pose questions as they build meaning through their lessons and activities.
Experiential learning can help students respond positively and confidently to future learning, even in areas that initially would have been considered uncomfortable. Ultimately, the goal is to help prepare students to become successful, productive citizens. It is essential that your student commits to coming on-campus classes and diligently completes the online coursework. This ensures that they are fully prepared to enjoy April 5th, our day in the simulated city where they will act as business leaders and employees offering public and private goods and services. This is truly an amazing program and we hope that you will support your child in joining us!
